There's nothing quite like a well-made Irish coffee to warm your spirits. Last weekend, we were camping and made this recipe for our adult family members, who were soaked to the bone trying to pack up when a huge rainstorm hit—it was a lifesaver! Since it was such a hit, I decided to share it with you. Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating the perfect Irish coffee.
1) Brew Your Favourite Coffee
Start with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. I recommend trying it with our Sumatra or Bow. Dark roasts are ideal because their rich, bold flavour pairs beautifully with the whiskey. But hey, whatever roast you prefer, I'm sure you'll love it!
2) Add Irish Whiskey to a Mug
Next, pour a shot of Irish whiskey into your favourite mug. Jameson is my go-to choice.
3) Sweeten with Maple Syrup
While I usually take my morning coffee black, a touch of maple syrup really brings out the best in Irish coffee and adds a true taste of Canada. It softens the whiskey's edge and adds a cozy sweetness. You can go with regular sugar if you must, but trust me, maple syrup is where it’s at—and it’s more natural, too.
4) Add a Splash of Coffee and Stir
Pour a small amount of your brewed Crickle Creek Coffee into the mug with the whiskey and syrup. Give it a gentle stir, then fill the mug with more coffee, leaving about 1/2 inch of space at the top.
5) Top with Whipped Cream
Finally, top off your creation with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
Pro tip: real whipped cream is worth the extra effort! It adds a luxurious texture and rounds out the flavours, making each sip pure bliss.
And for a little extra something, why not sprinkle on some cinnamon?
Have a great weekend,
Adriana
