Coffee Advent Calendar Day 8 - El Salvador Petits
Coffee Advent Calendar: Finca Argentina, Petits
NOTES: Chocolate, Nougat
ROAST: Medium
Finca Argentina is our family’s 70-acre farm in the Apaneca region of El Salvador—historically the first area where coffee was introduced more than 175 years ago. Today, Apaneca remains the country’s most important coffee-growing region, with rich volcanic soil and ideal altitude that produce delicate, complex, and well-balanced cups.
Because we manage our own farm, we can reserve some of our best nano lots each year to share with our customers. This lot is a blend of varietals, including traditional Bourbon, Pacas, and Catimor. What makes it truly unique is that it’s composed entirely of small beans, which we call “Petits.” Most export lots are sized for international standards, and beans smaller than that are usually sold locally. Years ago, I tasted these petits and discovered they pack incredible flavour—proving, I guess, that good things really do come in small packages. Ever since, we’ve separated the petits so they can be roasted and enjoyed on their own.

In the cup, expect balanced flavours with notes of chocolate and nougat, a juicy body, and a sweet, lingering finish—a true example of El Salvador’s rich coffee heritage.
