Coffee Advent Calendar Day 4 - Tanzania Peaberry
Coffee Advent Calendar: Tanzania Peaberry
NOTES: Plum, Yellow Apple, Caramel, Chocolate
ROAST: Medium
This Tanzania Peaberry comes from small family farms and local cooperatives in the Songwe Region, part of Tanzania’s Southern Highlands. Grown between 1,500 and 1,900 metres above sea level, the coffee benefits from elevation, cooler temperatures, and careful processing, all of which help build structure and clarity in the cup.
What makes this lot especially interesting is that it is a peaberry. Most coffee cherries develop two flat-sided seeds inside the fruit. A peaberry forms when only one seed develops, creating a smaller, rounder bean. Because peaberries are naturally more compact and uniform in shape, they are often separated from the rest of the harvest and roasted with extra care.
This lot is made from regional Bourbon cultivars and is fully washed, then dried on raised beds. The washed process keeps the profile clean, while raised-bed drying supports even moisture reduction and a more refined final cup.
