Coffee from the Mbinga District in Tanzania’s Ruvuma Region comes from high-altitude hills (1,300–2,000 m) with volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and well-defined rainy seasons. Smallholder farmers—many working just 0.25 to 3 acres—grow Arabica in agroforest settings, often intercropped with bananas and other shade trees. Because of the terrain and climate, cherry maturation is relatively slow, which helps produce dense, flavorful beans.
