Advent Calendar Day 14 - Papua New Guinea Nebilyer
COFFEE: Papua New Guinea Nebilyer
NOTES: Green Tea, Creamy
ROAST: Medium
From its earliest introduction to present day, the arabica gene stock in Papua New Guinea (PNG) is considered to be one of the best-preserved typica lineage variety sets in the world. These delicate genetics clearly thrive in PNG’s highlands, which are some of the most virgin and fertile on the planet. Nebilyer Valley is a broad and fertile high-elevation valley in the country’s western highlands. Several producers, with areas extending from 1-60 hectares, have been producing coffee in this region for more than 80 years and deliver their coffee to the Kuta Mill for processing.
PNG’s characteristic herbaceous balance, with touches of citrus zest and sweet tomato can be noted in this coffee. Expect a smooth body, low acidity and a muted sweetness with some unique notes. I personally tasted green tea among the herbaceous characteristics of PNG.
