Crickle Creek Coffee
Tanzania Anaerobic
Gaia Farm in Tanzania is a 620-hectare family-owned estate located in the Karatu district of Tanzania. Gaia is managed by the Vohora siblings, multi-generation coffee growers. Located along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest unbroken caldera in the world and a breathtakingly scenic landscape of escarpments and fertile open range that has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.
There has been some experimentation in processing on their facilities located at the farm. We have sourced this beautiful, anaerobically process coffee that brings out some very interesting notes into your cup. It has a mild and well balanced acidity with a silky body. Expect some fruity notes of grape and some orange zest acidity.
The anaerobic process entails a short fermentation period of the coffee cherries in an oxygen free environment, before depulping and drying the beans in raised beds. The process drives some interesting flavours in the bean that are not obtained through a traditional washed process.
